Ushaw Jazz Festival

The Ushaw Jazz Festival 2017 is taking place on the weekend of the August bank holiday (25th-27th). All the details will be released shortly - but you can expect a weekend of amazing music in a uniquely beautiful setting...

Jazz North Northern Line - Ushaw Ensemble

Very pleased to announce that the Ushaw Ensemble has been selected by Jazz North for the latest round of their Northern Line scheme. Look out for the band touring the north in the next couple of years!

Radio 3 Jazz Line-Up

Ushaw Jazz Festival

Not long now till the first Ushaw Jazz Festival! Located just outside of the City of Durham, the former priests seminary has transformed itself into a major cultural venue, with regular concerts, exhibitions and in 2016 a folk and Jazz festival. On August 26, 27 and 28th you can hear music from the dawn of ragtime right go to the present day as Ushaw hosts a jazz festival. For more information, visit www.ushaw.org

St. Cuthbert's Suite

Monday 22nd February 2016
I'm in the middle of a new commission for Ushaw College. On March 18th The Ushaw Ensemble' will be performing the world premiere of a new piece to celebrate St. Cuthbert. The following day we'll be performing the work again at Durham Cathedral. The lineup for the two concerts is Graham Hardy (Trumpet/Flugel) Graeme Wilson (saxes/reeds) Emma Fisk (violin) Alice Burn (Northumbrian Pipes) Paul Edis (Piano/MD) Rob Walker (drums/percussion) and Paul Susans (bass).

Jambone at Bimhuis, Amsterdam

Last week I was in Amsterdam working with the youth jazz ensemble Jambone (based at Sage, Gateshead). We performed at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam after a set from the JazzFocus Big band and the Jazz Unlimited Big Band led by the inspirational Peter Guidi.
